“The Official Block Podcast” has launched as the companion to television’s “The Block: Tree Change”.

The new podcast, from Nine Podcasts, will be hosted by Shelley Craft, who often appears alongside the TV show’s main host, Scott Cam.

Season 18 of “The Block” premiered on Sunday night to 867,000 overnight metro viewers. With the addition of those watching in the regions and streaming, it had a total audience of 1.345 million.

The show first went to air back in 2003, hosted by former “Backyard Blitz” host, Jamie Durie. It returned the next year, but was then off the air until its return in 2010.

Since 2010, “The Block” has gone to air on Channel 9 each year, often with multiple seasons within one calendar year.

Nine said “The Official Block Podcast” will be the only place the show’s fans can hear exclusive content from the show from now on.

Each week after Sunday’s room reveals, podcast host Craft will be joined by judges including Shaynna Blaze, Neale Whitaker and Darren Palmer, along with TV’s Cam and some of the contestants. Together they will answer viewer questions and “lift the veil on decisions made and verdicts rendered”.

“It’s the only opportunity for Blockheads to interact directly with stars of the show to learn why creative choices were made whilst hearing detailed explanations and advice on why some designs were huge hits and others were major flops,” publicity for the new podcast said.

Episode one of “The Official Block Podcast” landed on Monday, Aug. 8.
