Mamamia Podcast Network has finally joined CRA’s Australian Podcast Ranker – the opt-in industry benchmark comparing how many monthly downloads and listeners individual podcast titles can boast.
Mamamia is generally regarded as one of the largest independent podcast producers, so it was a noticeable absence from the ranker. The network houses multiple prominent podcasts including “No Filter With Mia Freedman”, “Mamamia Out Loud”, “The Quicky” and “Cancelled”.
All of Australia’s major radio companies – which all now have significant podcast outputs – participate in the Ranker, as do companies including Audioboom, DM Podcasts, News Corp Australia, Stitcher and Wondery. Other podcast native companies, such as Acast, have not yet signed up.
The Ranker is administered by Commercial Radio and Audio – the industry body formerly known as Commercial Radio Australia – and Triton Digital.
Ford Ennals, the CEO of CRA, said the addition of the Mamamia Podcast Network brings the number of publishers in the Ranker to 19, representing more than 70 million monthly downloads combined.
“We’re pleased to welcome Mamamia to the Australian Podcast Ranker. As one of the early innovators in podcasting, their addition solidifies the ranker as the definitive cross-industry source of data on podcast consumption in Australia,” he said.
“Podcasting continues to grow and grow and better data will only help more advertisers to invest in the sector.”
Richard Palmer, director of market development for Triton Digital APAC, said: “As a leading media company focused on making the world a better place for women and girls, Mamamia will be a welcome addition to the Australian Podcast Ranker. The ranker highlights the top podcasts, publishers and sales representatives, as measured by Triton’s Podcast Metrics measurement service, and the addition of Mamamia will help us continue to provide comprehensive insights into monthly performance trends across Australia.”
