The Classic 100 Countdown on ABC Classic will this year chart the best ‘Music for the Screen’ as voted by the radio station’s audience.

The Classic 100 Countdown: Music for the Screen gives audiences until June 6 to cast their vote for up to 10 pieces of work. The music can be from a film, TV show or game.

The results will be broadcast on Saturday June 11 and Sunday June 12 on ABC Classic as well as online.

ABC said the countdown will take listeners to other worlds, from the high seas to galaxies far, far away, from Middle Earth to Downton Abbey, and from Hogwarts to the Animal Kingdom.

Throughout the voting period, stars of stage and screen such as David Wenham and Miriam Margolyes have joined ABC Classic, along with screen composers Nigel Westlake (“Babe”) and Laura Karpman (Marvel Cinematic Universe).

Joe Gelonesi, content manager for ABC Classic and Jazz, invited everyone along for what will be “a very special winter weekend”.

“Our listeners have done it again, curating a wonderful musical experience,” he said. “Joy, love, laughter and reflection, this Classic 100 has it all.”

The ABC offered up a decade-by-decade film score Classic 100 collection on the ABC Listen app as inspiration, as well as the Classic 100: Music for the Screen collection on ABC iview.
