Just Laughs 2022 Reveals 10th Anniversary
Just For Laughs

Just For Laughs Sydney is returning at the end of the year for a week of big comedy and big names.

Taking place between November 28h and December 4th 2022, the comedy festival will bring some of the finest international comics from overseas to Australia.

Monty Python icon Eric Idle will hold a special ‘In Conversation’ with a surprise host at the State Theatre on Thursday, December 1st.

“I am thrilled to be coming to Just For Laughs in Sydney,” Idle says. “I love Sydney, I married an Australia, I have many friends in Australia and I have been visiting since 1976.”

Making its debut at the festival this year will be First Nations Funnies, a collaboration between Steph Tisdell and Just For Laughs Sydney. The comedian will be inviting five other hilarious First Nations’ comedians to perform with her, including Dane Simpson and Andy Saunders.

Another major new edition is the Just For Laughs Musical Comedy Gala – Musical Comedy IS Cool, a huge gala hosted by the iconic Aunty Donna. Other hilarious musical comedy acts including Matt Okine, Two Hearts, and Michelle Brasier will also take part.

And returning to the Just For Laughs Sydney once more is national favourite and “The Project” co-host Tommy Little, who will be returning the Just For Laughs All-Star Gala. The likes of Rhys Nicholson and Melanie Bracewell will feature, as will Urzila Carlson on the Saturday only.

“I am delighted the NSW Government is partnering with Just For Laughs through Destination NSW to bring this brilliant world-renowned comedy festival back to Sydney,” NSW Minister for the Arts and Tourism Ben Franklin said.

“We could all do with a good laugh after the past few years, which have been incredibly challenging for our tourism and creative industries.

“Bringing an event like this to Sydney is as much about putting smiles on faces as it is about supporting our city’s visitor and night-time economy. Just For Laughs Sydney will be a major visitor drawcard and is a fantastic addition to the incredible calendar of events we have ahead exclusively for Sydney over summer.”

Other big comics coming to the festival include Rob Beckett, Alan Carr, Jimmy O. Yang, Sandi Toksvig, and Nish Kumar.
