Netflix Launches Game to Put Fandom to the Test

Streaming giant Netflix has launched a version of popular mobile game “Heads Up” – “Netflix Heads Up” – which will put viewers’ Netflix I.Q. to the test.

The charades-style game has been launched in partnership with Ellen DeGeneres’ Ellen Digital Ventures.

“Netflix Heads Up” will offer 28 decks to choose from including offerings focused on its international smash hits “Squid Game”, “Bridgerton” and “Stranger Things”.

In addition, there will be a Netflix Is A Joke deck which will include comic greats and comedy terminology, as well as Geeked, focussing on sci-fi, horror, fantasy, comedy books and video games. The Strong Black Lead deck will allow people to show off their knowledge of Black actors, entertainers, series and films.

The game will be available on Android and iOS devices in up to 15 languages including English, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil) and Thai.

Netflix said the game would stir some fierce head-to-head competition.

“‘Netflix Heads Up’ is a game everyone can participate in, so whether you have five or 50 people over, no one will be left out – even if they’re not there. You can easily share recordings of your matches with friends and family on Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp and more,” publicity for the game said.

The original “Heads Up” game from DeGeneres launched in 2013 and was downloaded over 650,000 times in its first month.
