The Casting Guild of Australia Awards will return as a live event on Dec. 2.

The awards are the only casting awards ceremony in the southern hemisphere that celebrate and recognise casting across all mediums including film, television, advertising, theatre and online content. They seek to acknowledge and support the critical role casting directors play in bringing together great casting opportunities both on a national and international state.

Categories for the 2022 Casting Guild of Australia Awards include Best Casting in a Feature Film, Best Casting in a TV Comedy, Best Casting in a TVC and Achievement in Casting.

The 2022 CGA Rising Stars will also be announced in mid-November, with Australia’s top casting directors set to interview each of the recipients on CGA’s social pages in the lead up to the official presentation on Dec. 2.

The awards have been forced to move online over the past two years, but in December they will return in-person at the Holding Redlich in Melbourne.

Last year, Nathan Lloyd won the award for Best Casting in a TV Drama, TV Miniseries and Telemovie for his work on “The Newsreader”, while “Fisk’s” Kirsty McGregor won the Best Casting in a TV Comedy category. Anousha Zarkesh, meanwhile, won Best Casting in a Feature Film for “High Ground” up against fellow contenders “Nitram”, “The Dry” and “The Furnace”.
