A Christmas film starring Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell and a documentary about one of the world’s biggest popstars are among the highlights on Apple TV+ this November.
On November 18th, “Spirited”, yet another new adaptation of “A Christmas Carol”, arrives, but this one has the combined star power of Reynolds and Ferrell.
The modern retelling of the classic festive story sees Ferrell play the Ghost of Christmas Present, who chooses a miserable corporate executive, Clint Briggs (played by Reynolds), as his latest project. In a twist, Briggs ends up taking the Ghost on his own spiritual journey.
The dazzling trailer promises lots of Ferrell and Reynolds’ singular comedy schtick, so your enjoyment of “Spirited” will depend on your opinion of the two actors. The former, of course, starred in one of the greatest Christmas films of all time: can he repeat the magic of “Elf” for a second time?
On November 4th, “Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me” comes to Apple TV+. The film documents the singer and actor’s lengthy battle with health issues, both physical and mental, as she struggled to come to terms with her growing fame.
“After years in the limelight, Selena Gomez achieves unimaginable stardom. But just as she reaches a new peak, an unexpected turn pulls her into darkness,” the documentary’s official description says. This raw and intimate film should be must-see viewing for any Gomez fan.
And on the same day of the month, “Causeway” premieres, Jennifer Lawrence’s latest star vehicle following last year’s “Don’t Look Up”. The film follows a soldier who suffers a traumatic brain injury while deployed in Afghanistan and struggles to adjust to life back home. “Causeway” also stars Brian Tyree Henry, and early reviews have highly praised both his and Lawrence’s performances.
