There are several highly-anticipated new arrivals on HBO Max this July, including new series from comedy icons Issa Rae and Nathan Fielder.
On July 21st, from the vibrant comedy mind of Issa Rae (“Insecure”) comes “Rap Sh!t”, a comedy about two estranged high school friends from Miami who come back together to form a rap group.
On July 15th, another creative comedy talent unveils his latest innovative series. Nathan Fielder (“Nathan For You”) brings viewers “The Rehearsal”, which explores the lengths one man will go to reduce the uncertainties of everyday life.
Accompanied by actors, a massive construction crew, and seemingly unlimited resources, Fielder allows ordinary people to prepare for life’s biggest moments by “rehearsing” them in carefully crafted simulations of his own design. What could go wrong?
On the first of the month, Edgar Wright’s latest film, “Last Night in Soho”, arrives on HBO Max. Starring the always-excellent Anya Taylor-Joy and rising star Thomasin McKenzie, the psychological horror transports viewers back to 1960s London, although the city isn’t as swinging and carefree as it seems on the surface.
One of the finest action films of the 21st century hits the streaming platform on July 9th. “Mad Max: Fury Road” was plagued by production issues and actor quarrels, but it all paid off in the end: George Miller’s spectacular creation won the most awards at the 2016 Academy Awards, including Best Costume Design and Best Production Design.
