To celebrate the 50th anniversary of his book, “The Selfish Gene”, Richard Dawkins has announced a speaking tour of Australia and New Zealand this year.
The UK evolutionary biologist and author will tour this November, with shows confirmed for Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth, Auckland and Wellington.
Released in 1976, “The Selfish Gene” brought the gene-centred view of evolution to mass audiences. On this tour, Dawkins will reflect on those ideas and debates that the book sparked over the last 50 years.
“Few books have had the reach or long-term impact of ‘The Selfish Gene,'” founder of tour promoter, Thinkable, Desh Amila, said.
“50 years after its publication, it remains one of the defining works of modern scientific thought. This tour is a rare opportunity for audiences in Australia and New Zealand to hear Richard Dawkins reflect on the ideas that changed the conversation and it could be one of the last chances to see him live on stage.”
General public tickets to all shows go on sale from Tuesday, March 31st. Click here for more details and check out all of the dates and venues below.
