As the cold begins to draw in, Prime Video has announced a slew of TV shows and films to combat the wintry nights in June.
On the first of the month, “Some Like It Hot”, one of the great romantic comedies, arrives on Prime Video. Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis are an instinctually comical pairing as two downtrodden musicians who disguise themselves as women in order to evade the mafia, but it’s Marilyn Monroe who steals the show: fiendishly funny and wonderfully alluring, the actress was never better than in Billy Wilder’s classic farce.
One of the streaming platform’s flagship series, “The Boys”, returns on June 3rd for its third season. Its irreverent take on the superhero format has won the series many fans, with several Critics’ Choice Super Awards also under its belt. The Boys are a group of vigilantes intent on stopping those possessing superpowers from abusing their gifts. It’s the seemingly powerless against the menacingly powerful in a series brimming with action.
