Nicki Minaj took to X early Wednesday morning to let her fans, and Jay-Z in particular, know that she is pulling a forthcoming album.
The rapper – who hasn’t released a record with or is known to have signed with Roc Nation, the entertainment conglomerate Jay-Z owns – wrote, for reasons unspecified, that she is “not going to put the album out anymore. No more music. Hope you’re happy now,” tagging Jay-Z’s own X handle to close the surprise announcement. (Minaj’s most recent album, “Pink Friday 2,” was released through Island/Republic.)
On Tuesday, Minaj – who uses X prolifically – reiterated the release date of March 27, 2026 for the new album in a post (and also on Oct. 2 and Sept. 24, the latter of which remained, at press time, pinned to her profile on the site).
Earlier that day, Minaj had posted derisive comments about Roc Nation, suggesting the company had unsuccessfully tried to sign her. She also referred to it as “cock nation” and appeared to propound, in part, that the death of D’Angelo, announced by his family yesterday, was, inexplicably, part of a face-saving campaign by Roc Nation.
Minaj’s bilious flurry is possibly related to claims that she is owed between $100 to 200 million related to her stake in Tidal, the music streaming service launched and spearheaded by Jay-Z in 2015 and was sold to Jack Dorsey’s company Square for $297 million in 2021.
In previous posts Minaj has also targeted Desiree Perez, the CEO of Roc Nation. “Desiree Perez, your time is up,” Minaj posted on Oct. 2. Perez received a pardon in 2021 by then-outgoing President Trump related to decades-old drug charges.
In early October, a security guard who sued Minaj over an alleged assault in Germany asked the judge in that case to force a sale of the rapper’s California home to pay the $503,000 owed to him by Minaj in relation to the case, Us Weekly reported on Oct. 14.

Earlier this year Minaj (full name Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty) was sued by Brandon Garrett, a former employee, over allegations of assault and battery. Through a lawyer, Minaj denied the claims.
