Jimmy Barnes will perform at this year’s TV Week Logie Awards, joining a lineup of star presenters.

He’ll take the stage at The Star in Sydney on August 3, following the June release of his 21st studio album, Defiant.

Barnes joins host Sam Pang and a lineup of newly announced presenters spanning comedy, current affairs and reality TV including Kitty Flanagan (“Fisk”), Hamish Blake (“Lego Masters”), Leigh Sales (“Australian Story”), Sophie Monk (“Love Island Australia”) and Tom Gleeson (“Taskmaster Australia”). Additional presenters will be revealed in the lead-up to the event.

“I’m excited to be playing at the Logies, television’s big night of nights,” Barnes said. “It will be great to celebrate all the fantastic talent we have in Australian television, and to play some rock’n’roll music to get the party jumping.”

Barnes overcame numerous health battles, including numerous surgeries to his heart, back and elsewhere in the lead up to the aptly named Defiant. The album soared to the top of ARIA charts, extending his record to 22 career No. 1s — including 16 as a solo artist and six with Cold Chisel.

“For me, an album feels like a success the moment I get everything I need to say down on tape. When those songs connect with other people — that’s when the real magic happens,” Barnes wrote in a social media post at the time.

“The Barnes and Gudinski families are just that — family,” said Matt Gudinski, CEO of Mushroom Group. “Jimmy has been an integral part of Mushroom since his debut solo album Bodyswerve in 1984. I’m extremely proud to be celebrating another No. 1 album — his 16th solo chart-topper — 41 years later. Defiant shows Jimmy is still going strong.”

The Scottish-born musician has also expanded into publishing and film, with three No. 1 bestselling books and a documentary, “Working Class Man”, premiering at this year’s Melbourne International Film Festival.
