The Comedy Central animated series “Digman!” is the latest show to shift its premiere at the basic cabler.
The second season of “Digman!” was slated to debut on July 9, but it will now premiere two weeks later on July 23 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT. The move keeps the series in line with the launch of Season 27 of “South Park,” which also recently shifted its premiere date to July 23.
No sign yet that the “Digman!” creators are planning to release a statement to address the move, but “South Park’s” Trey Parker and Matt Stone had plenty to say, particularly regarding the Paramount-Skydance merger. In a statement posted online shortly after the premiere date move was announced, Parker and Stone said, “This merger is a shit show and it’s fucking up ‘South Park.’ We are at the studio working on new episodes and we hope the fans get to see them somehow.”
“Digman!” hails from creators Andy Samberg and Neil Campbell. The show is set in a world where archaeologists are celebrities and follows the exploits of famed adventurer, Rip Digman (voiced by Samberg). The main voice cast also includes Mitra Jouhari, Tim Robinson, Dale Soules, Guz Khan, Melissa Fumero, and Tim Meadows.
Season 2 also features a wide range of guest stars, including: Fred Armisen, Stephanie Beatriz, Beck Bennett, Flula Borg, Beth Grant, Dennis Haysbert, Mike Hanford, Mark Hamill, Rachel Kaly, Tom Kenny, Nathan Lane, Lauren Lapkus, Tatiana Maslany, Seth Meyers, Kayvan Novak, Claudia O’Doherty, Artemis Pebdani, Anne Ramsay, Amy Sedaris, Rekha Shankar, Jorma Taccone, Carl Tart, Whitmer Thomas, Geraldine Viswanathan, John Waters, Kate Winslet, and Jeffrey Wright.
Campbell also serves as showrunner on “Digman!,” with both he and Samberg executive producing. The series is produced by CBS Studios alongside Ali Bell and The Lonely Island’s Party Over Here banner. Titmouse executive produces, with Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio and Ben Kalina executive producing for the animation company.
