The 2025 Revelation Perth International Film Festival has revealed its full program, running from July 2–13th at Luna Leederville, Luna on SX and The Backlot.

With over 45 features and documentaries, plus more than 100 short films, this year’s edition puts bold storytelling and global voices front and centre. Highlights include the contemporary Western black comedy “Eddington” and the poignant British biographical drama “Mr Burton.”

Opening the festival on Wednesday, July 2nd is the Ukrainian sci-fi film “U Are the Universe.”

“As usual we’ve gone all the way in bringing the very best new and classic international cinema to WA audiences,” says Festival Director Richard Sowada.

“This year’s program features everything from sweaty punk realism and psychedelic cult journeys to iconic restorations to animations exploding with colour and power and some of the most acclaimed films direct from the international festival scene. Its global conversation told through the language of film.”

“Eddington” is a contemporary Western black comedy from director Ari Aster, fresh from Cannes. Set in fictional Eddington, New Mexico, during the COVID-19 pandemic, it tackles political polarisation, misinformation and societal unrest, with a star-studded cast including Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone and Austin Butler.

“Mr Burton” is a British biographical drama exploring the early life of Welsh actor Richard Burton, starring Harry Lawtey and Toby Jones.

Directorial debut “September Says” comes from Ariane Labed, known for “The Lobster” and “The Souvenir: Part II.” Adapted from Daisy Johnson’s novel “Sisters,” the film delves into the fraught bond between two sisters wrestling with isolation and psychological tension. Its surreal, gothic tone has drawn comparisons to Shirley Jackson and Stephen King.

Other key highlights include Norwegian animated musical “Spermageddon,” post-apocalyptic musical drama “The End” and “The Last First Time,” a coming-of-age story about an 18-year-old’s journey of self-discovery in Guadalajara.

The program also showcases genre-benders like “Transcending Dimensions” by Toyoda Toshiaki, horror “Pater Noster and the Mission of the Light”, WA’s indie-punk flick “Skeleton Girls” by Richard Eames and more.
