Australian actor Samuel Johnson is set to be spotlighted on next week’s episode of “Australian Story.”

Johnson, who won the 2017 Gold Logie on the back of his AACTA Award-winning portrayal of Australian music personality Ian “Molly” Meldrum in the miniseries “Molly,” will share his personal story and journey on the ABC program next Monday (May 19th).

The episode will document Johnson’s performance in the Seven Network-produced series, as well as his Love Your Sister charity, co-founded with his late sister Connie, that has raised $20 million for cancer research.

It will also look at his rise to fame at 21 years old in the hit local series, “The Secret Life of Us,” when he broke the world unicycling record after riding 16,000km around Australia and recentlty surviving a near-fatal road accident.

“I used to be a big problem for myself,” Samuel said.

“Now I’ve tapped into something that has helped me get away from the things I hated about myself.”

Lucy Freeman, managing director of Love Your Sister, added: “It seems like life deals up a lot of things to Sam and he somehow triumphs over them.”

Following its release in 2016, “Molly” was the highest-rating non-sport program in Australia for the year, bringing in over 3 million viewers across the two-part show.

As well as picking up the Gold Logie for the miniseries, Johnson picked up the Most Popular Actor gong and the award for Best Lead Actor in a Television Drama at the AACTA Awards.

Since then, Johnson has dedicated more time to his charity, though he has featured in a number of shows including Stan’s “Eden” in 2017, as a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars” in 2019 and he serves as narrator for the Nine Network documentary, “Paramedics,” which is currently in its fifth season.

Johnson’s “Australian Story” episode will air next Monday at 8pm on ABC TV and ABC iview.
