It’s been a big week for Paramount+ Australia.
On Friday (April 11th), the streamer revealed that it had its largest launch in the platform’s history with hit new show, “MobLand.”
The crime-drama series, led by Hollywood heavyweights Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, racked up 8.8 million viewers in its first seven days, quadrupling its audience.
According to Paramount+ Australia, this marks “the biggest global series launch week ever on Paramount+ up +298% from premiere day.”
“MobLand” now joins “1923” and “Landman” as the biggest launches in Paramount+ history.
The Guy Ritchie executive-produced series is a story about two mob families who clash in a war that threatens to topple empires and lives.
As well as Hardy, Brosnan and Mirren, “MobLand” stars Paddy Considine (“House of the Dragon,”) Joanne Froggatt (“Downtown Abbey,”) Mandeep Dhillon (“Derek,”) Lara Pulver (“Da Vinci’s Demons,”) Anson Boon (“Pistol,”) Jasmine Jobson (“Top Boy,”) Lisa Dwan (“Blackshore,”) and Emily Barber (“Industry”).
Mirren recently made headlines for revealing she is not a fan of the “James Bond” film franchise, however, the Oscar-winning actress was full of praise for co-star Brosnan, who is considered one of the best actors to take on the role of 007.
“I’m a huge fan of Pierce Brosnan, I mean massive fan,” Mirren shared. “Obviously, he’s gorgeous and everything. And I think he’s fabulous in ‘MobLand,’ but he also happens to be one of the nicest people you’ll ever have the pleasure to work with.
“And indeed Daniel Craig, who I’ve met and know a little bit. Again, a very lovely gracious person.”
“MobLand” is available to watch on Paramount+ Australia now.
“MobLand” is executive produced by Keith Cox, Nina L. Diaz, Guy Ritchie, David C. Glasser, Jez Butterworth, Ronan Bennett, Kris Thykier, Ivan Atkinson, Tom Hardy, Dean Baker, Anthony Byrne, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin and Bob Yari.
