BBC Studios has announced a major appointment for its Australia and New Zealand division.
On Tuesday, the company confirmed it has appointed senior brand and marketing leader Sharon Wilson as Director of Brands & Licensing Australia and New Zealand, placing her at the centre of the company’s brand strategy and licensing push across the region.
Based in Sydney, Wilson will oversee brand and licensing initiatives across ANZ, with a remit that includes ensuring the continued strength of BBC Studios’ iconic brands – including Bluey – with audiences and commercial partners.
She will report to Suzy Raia, who leads the Global Consumer Products team.
Wilson brings deep experience across brand, marketing and digital transformation, with a career spanning green energy start-ups and established organisations, including Australian Geographic and BBC Studios, where she previously held multiple marketing roles between 2010 and 2020.
Most recently, she served as Head of Go-to-Market at ADMA, leading initiatives to strengthen market positioning and audience engagement.
Raia said Wilson’s return comes at a strategically important moment for the business.
“We are thrilled to welcome Sharon back to BBC Studios in this pivotal role. Her deep understanding of our brands, combined with her proven expertise in strategic marketing and licensing, will be instrumental in driving growth and innovation across the ANZ region. Sharon’s collaborative leadership and passion for creativity make her the perfect fit to strengthen our consumer products and brand partnerships.”
For Wilson, the role represents an opportunity to lean into both creativity and commercial discipline.
“I’m passionate about creating meaningful connections between brands and audiences. By leveraging data-driven insights and embracing fresh ideas, we can position BBC Studios for sustained growth in an ever-evolving marketplace.”
BBC Studios, the commercial arm of the BBC, makes and distributes some of the world’s most sought-after content and is the co-commissioner, distributor and licensor of the multi-award-winning animated series Bluey.
Wilson’s appointment also lands as BBC Studios ANZ looks to capitalise on renewed momentum around the franchise, with a feature film slated for global theatrical release on 6 August 2027 under the Disney banner.
The company also confirmed that Amber Brown, Director of Partnerships, Digital and Brands, will continue to lead off-air brand activations, while also driving growth in brand-funded entertainment and digital initiatives for locally produced programming by BBC Studios Global Production ANZ.
The move underscores BBC Studios ANZ’s broader focus on strategic brand management, licensing and long-term franchise growth.
