Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. have released the first trailer for “They Will Kill You,” an action-packed dark comedy that evokes a mix of “The Raid” and “Ready or Not” in its setting and premise. The film stars Zazie Beetz (“Black Mirror”) as a young woman who takes up a maid job in the mysterious and lavish Virgil building. Unfortunately, it’s a temple to satan, and she’s their next unwilling human sacrifice unless she can fight her way out.
Masked cultish murderers, hallway action sequences, flaming axes, face-punching and satanic set pieces ensue in what a press release describes as “a uniquely brazen, big screen battle of epic kills and wickedly dark humour.”
Joining Beetz in the cast are Patricia Arquette (“Severance”), Paterson Joseph (“Wonka”), Tom Felton (“Harry Potter”), Heather Graham (“Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me”) and Myha’la (“Industry”).
The film is directed by Kirill Sokolov (“Why Don’t You Just Die”), co-written by Sokolov and Alex Litvak (“Predators”) and produced by Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti of the “IT” films and prequel series, alongside fellow producer Dan Kagan (“Longlegs”).
Behind the camera, Sokolov is joined by director of photography Isaac Bauman, production designer Jeremy Reed, editor Luke Doolan, costume designer Neil McClean and visual effects supervisor Marc Smith. The soundtrack composer is Carlos Rafael Rivera, joined by music supervisor Andrea von Foerster, and with casting by Richard Delia.
New Line Cinema and Nocturna’s “They Will Kill You” will be distributed by Warner Bros., with a release date set for Thursday, March 26. Watch the trailer below.
