Bus Stop Films will host its first major fundraising gala in Sydney this May, as the not-for-profit ramps up efforts to expand inclusive career pathways across Australia’s screen sector.
The organisation has announced The Bus Stop Ball, set to take place at ICC Sydney’s Parkside Ballroom on Saturday, May 9th, positioning the Hollywood-themed event as a key driver of funding for its Accessible Filmmaking Program.
Designed to bring together industry stakeholders, corporate partners and philanthropic supporters, the gala will raise funds to support people with disability in developing practical skills, industry connections and long-term careers in film and television. Proceeds will go towards scholarships, program delivery and employment pathways.
Television presenter Richard Wilkins will host the evening, which will open with a red carpet arrival led by comedian and actor Elle Dawe, alongside Abbey Faulkner of “The Assembly.” The program will also feature a live performance from stage and screen performer Kat Hoyos, followed by a DJ set from Adam Katz.
Bus Stop Films ambassador Ronan Soussa, known for “Love on the Spectrum,” is set to deliver a personal address reflecting on inclusion and creative opportunity.
Guests will be offered a two-course dinner and beverages, alongside a fundraising auction featuring experiential and lifestyle prizes, including a catered corporate box at CommBank Stadium for an NRL match, Australian Open hospitality in the Nine Suite, a Thredbo chalet stay, original artworks, wine collections and a CAMILLA kaftan.
ICC Sydney has signed on as major sponsor for the event, with Amok Events and DanBartArt supporting as community partners.

Bus Stop Films CEO Tracey Corbin-Matchett OAM said the gala represents a significant step in advancing a more inclusive industry pipeline.
“The Bus Stop Ball is an opportunity to bring people together in support of a more inclusive screen industry,” she said. “Every dollar raised helps create pathways for people with disability to develop their craft, build careers and be seen and heard on screen.”
