Netflix has revealed the first trailer for “Victoria Beckham,” a docuseries about the former Spice Girl and fashion designer.
The three-part docuseries, premiering Oct. 9, “gives all of us a front row seat as Victoria prepares for the fashion show of her life,” the project’s synopsis reads. “From the teenager who restyled her school uniform, to the Spice Girl who fought to be accepted by a notoriously demanding fashion industry, ‘Victoria Beckham’ is the story of resilience, reinvention and self-discovery.”
The premiere of “Victoria Beckham” comes two years after “Beckham” — the Netflix docuseries about her husband, football star David Beckham — debuted to commercial and critical success, going on to win an Emmy. That series spawned several viral moments, including one where Victoria Beckham claimed to have grown up “working class” and David Beckham corrected her, saying her dad drove her to school in a Rolls Royce.
From the looks of the “Victoria Beckham” trailer, more of the Beckhams’ dry humor is in store: during one emotional moment, David tells Victoria, “You could make a cheese and ham toasted sandwich and we’d be proud of you.” Wiping away tears, Victoria replies: “Let’s be honest, I couldn’t actually make a cheese sandwich very well.”
Directed by “Becoming” helmer Nadia Hellgren, “Victoria Beckham” hails from “Beckham” producers Studio 99 as well as Dorothy Street. Directors of photography include Thorsten Thielow, Patrick Smith and Daniel Carter. Billie Shepherd serves as a producer and Sophie Todd is series producer. Executive producers include Hallgren, Nicola Howson, Julia Nottingham and Anders Christian Madsen. The series was edited by Holly Lubbock, Betsy Kagen, Greg O’Toole, Alec Rossiter and Simon Barker.
