Paramount+ Australia has confirmed that “NCIS: Sydney” will return for a third season, following the resounding success of its latest installment.
The international expansion of the “NCIS” franchise has resonated with audiences worldwide, and the Australian edition continues to carve out its own identity in the crime drama landscape.
Production on the upcoming season is set to begin in Sydney on Feb. 24, once again showcasing the city’s stunning locations and bustling harbour as the backdrop for the series’ high-stakes investigations.
Since its launch, “NCIS: Sydney” has become a major player in the local streaming market. Its first season ranked among the most-watched series on Paramount+ Australia, earned a nomination for Best Drama at the 2024 TV Week Logie Awards, and later made a splash in the US, where its debut on CBS attracted over 10 million viewers.
Paramount Australia’s Creative Advisor Drama, Rick Maier, highlighted the significance of the renewal. “Got to be proud of any Australian series doing this well on a global scale,” he said. “The second season of ‘NCIS: Sydney’ (just launched on Paramount+) is already building on the success of the first, and the scripts for series three are in fantastic shape. We’re all very excited to be back in production again.”
Sara Richardson, Head of Scripted at Endemol Shine Australia and an executive producer on the series, praised the show’s ongoing success. “With the success of season one, and season two rolling out around the world – we are so excited to be back with our team and shooting in some of our country’s most beautiful and breathtaking locations,” she said. “The entire cast and crew are extremely proud of ‘NCIS: Sydney,’ and the unique Australian touch we have brought to such an established and universally loved franchise.”
Showrunner and executive producer Morgan O’Neill promised even more excitement ahead. “With two seasons under our belt, we are looking forward to upping the ante and bringing even more fun-filled, high-octane action from our incredible ‘NCIS: Sydney’ team.”
Featuring a dynamic ensemble cast including Olivia Swann, Todd Lasance, Sean Sagar, Tuuli Narkle, Mavournee Hazel, and William McInnes, “NCIS: Sydney” follows a joint team of US NCIS agents and Australian Federal Police officers tackling naval crimes in the region.
The series expands the reach of the decades-long “NCIS” universe, which also includes “NCIS” (since 2003), “NCIS: Los Angeles” (2009-2023), “NCIS: New Orleans” (2014-2021) and”NCIS: Hawai’i” (2021-2024), alongside the prequel “NCIS: Origins” and upcoming “NCIS: Tony & Ziva.”
With its renewal secured, “NCIS: Sydney” continues its run as a standout in Australian television. Fans can stream the latest season now on Paramount+, alongside a lineup of major titles including “Yellowjackets” Season Three, “Dexter: Original Sin,” and “The Inspired Unemployed (Impractical) Jokers” Season Two.
