“BMF” has been cancelled at Starz, Variety has learned.
The crime drama aired for four seasons at the premium cabler, with the Season 4 finale airing back in August. The show originally debuted on Starz in 2021. It streams on Stan in Australia.
“BMF” was one of several shows that Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson produced for Starz via G-Unit Films and Television Inc. Jackson had previously spoken about multiple “BMF” spinoffs being in the works at Starz, with sources saying those projects remain in development.
“BMF” told the story of the rise of the Black Mafia Family, a notorious street gang that originated in Detroit in the 1980s. The cast included Demetrius Flenory Jr. — the son of BMF co-founder Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory — as well as Da’Vinchi, Russell Hornsby, Michole Briana White, Michole Briana White, Steve Harris, La La Anthony, Sydney Mitchell, Laila D. Pruitt, Myles Truitt, and Eric Kofi-Abrefa.
Notable names like Snoop Doog, Wood Harris, Mo’Nique, Eminem, 2 Chainz, and Saweetie have appeared on the show during its run.
The official logline for Season 4 of “BMF” states:
“As Meech (Flenory) and Terry (Da’Vinchi) fight to keep their American Dream alive, staying ahead of their rivals and law enforcement takes a toll on their relationship. The brothers occasionally put aside their differences for their common goals, but the events of what happened in Mexico will change them forever.”
