“White Lotus” stars Parker Posey and Jason Isaacs confirmed that the fourth season of the HBO vacation dramedy will take place in the South of France, but neither one is confident that their characters will return.
“Mike is in the South of France right now. That’s where Season 4 is going to be,” Posey told E! on the Emmys red carpet. The actor, who played Southern housewife Victoria Ratliff, added: “I have no idea if I’m in it.”
Posey joked that Jennifer Coolidge’s long-dead character Tanya McQuoid could even come back in a hallucination sequence.
“When you’re at the top of a mountain — people can hallucinate spirits. I think Coolidge can come back, depending on the location. Like in the Alps somewhere,” she said.
Posey’s on-screen husband Jason Isaacs, who played the lovable dad and drug-addled white collar criminal Timothy Ratliff, similarly confirmed the location for “The White Lotus” Season 4. But, considering his character’s fate, he wasn’t so sure the Ratliffs would ever again be able to stay at a White Lotus resort. “They’ll be lucky if they can stay in a Howard Johnson’s,” he quipped.
HBO declined to comment on the location for “The White Lotus” Season 4.
It’s unclear when production will begin, as creator Mike White has indicated that he would take a bit of a break before putting pen to paper on the new season.

The third season of “The White Lotus,” which traveled from the island of Koh Samui to Bangkok and back, set viewership records for the series. Season 2 took place in Sicily and the first season was in Maui. In each season, a Four Seasons resort is dressed up as the titular luxury hotel.
Variety broke the news of a fourth season renewal in January, a few weeks before the Season 3 premiere.
All three seasons of “The White Lotus” have followed groups of troubled vacationers who unleash their worst, most privileged impulses at the idyllic White Lotus resort, as their exploits intersect with hotel staff members. Each season has also featured one or more mysterious deaths.
“The White Lotus” will contend for Emmy nominations, for which voting takes place in June. Across its first two seasons, the series won 15 Emmys, including for outstanding limited series for its first season. (Since it returned for another installment with Coolidge, the series moved into the drama categories.)
While nominations won’t be announced until July, Season 3 stars Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs, Aimee Lou Wood, Parker Posey and Sam Rockwell have a good shot at breaking into the supporting actor in a drama categories.
“The White Lotus” is executive produced by White, David Bernad and Mark Kamine.
