The great “South Park” standoff of ’25 is over. Series creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have officially extended their overall deal with Paramount Global for a further five years.

Under the terms of the deal between Paramount and Parker and Stone’s Park County production company, “South Park” has received an order for 50 new episodes. In addition, all 26 previous seasons will be available to stream on Paramount+ for the first time, while new episodes will air on Comedy Central and then stream on Paramount+ the day after.

“We are grateful for this opportunity and deeply honored by the trust placed in us,” Parker said. “This is about more than a contract — it’s about our commitment to this organization, our teammates, and our fans. We’re focused on building something special and doing whatever it takes to bring championships to this city.”

The news comes after it was reported on Monday that Parker and Stone were close to a new deal with Paramount worth approximately $300 million per year for a total of $1.5 billion.

“Trey and I and the whole ‘South Park’ crew are grateful for this extension and this deal,” Stone said. “We want to thank Chris McCarthy and Keyes Hill-Edgar for years of great partnership and are looking forward to continuing to make ‘South Park’ for the next five years.”

Until last month, “South Park” had been streaming on HBO Max, although Paramount+ has aired several “South Park” specials over the last few years. Season 27 of “South Park” was originally scheduled to debut on July 9, but it was pushed back two weeks to July 23.

The delay came as Parker and Stone accused incoming Paramount president Jeff Shell of interfering with their contract negotiations with WBD and Netflix, while the leadership of Skydance — which is in the process of purchasing Paramount — reportedly balked at the original terms of the deal extension that were said to be worth $3 billion over 10 years.

“Matt and Trey are singular, creative forces whose fearless humor and boundary pushing storytelling have made ‘South Park’ one of the most beloved and enduring series ever — more popular today than at any point in its history, and one of the most valuable TV franchises in the world,” said Chris McCarthy, co-CEO of Paramount Global and president of Showtime/MTV Entertainment. “They are exceptional talents and trusted partners – we’re thrilled that Comedy Central and now Paramount+ globally will be the home to ‘South Park’ for years to come and our thanks to the Skydance team for their vital partnership in making this happen.”

Parker, Stone, Anne Garefino and Frank C. Agnone II are the executive producers of “South Park.” Eric Stough, Adrien Beard, Bruce Howell, and Vernon Chatman are producers. Christopher Brion is the Creative Director of South Park Digital Studios, a joint venture between Paramount Global and Park County.
