The third season of the revival of “Beavis and Butt-Head” has set its Comedy Central release date.

The revival’s third season (and the show’s eleventh overall) will launch on Sept. 3 at the basic cabler. The first two seasons of the revival debuted on Paramount+, but it was announced in June 2024 that the series would be airing on Comedy Central going forward.

Paramount has also released the first trailer for the new season, which can be seen below. In the trailer, Beavis and Butt-Head (in what is no doubt a dream sequence) get a shoutout from Metallica before the pair ask how much it would cost to buy the band. They then nail James Hetfield in the head with a gold bar.

The series officially launched in 1993 on fellow Paramount cable network MTV. It featured the titular duo offering satirical commentary on youth and adolescence. The show proved to be a cultural phenomenon, generating strong reactions both positive and negative.

The newest version marks the second time “Beavis and Butt-Head” has been brought back to television. After it originally ended in 1997 after seven seasons, MTV revived it for an eighth season in 2011. Paramount Pictures released the film “Beavis & Butt-Head Do America” in 1996, while the revival movie “Beavis & Butt-Head Do the Universe” debuted on Paramount+ in 2022. “Daria,” a spinoff featuring “Beavis & Butt-Head” character Daria Morgendorffer, aired on MTV for five seasons.

Mike Judge created the series and voices many of the characters, including the titular dim-witted duo. Judge is also an executive producer along with Lew Morton and Michael Rotenberg, as well as Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Ben Kalina and Antonio Canobbio for Titmouse.

This is the second animated series revival for Judge of late. He is also bringing back the beloved series “King of the Hill” with a new 10-episode season at Hulu, which debuts on Aug. 4. Judge co-created that series with Greg Daniels.
