Lil Nas X has spoken out after he pleaded not guilty to four felony charges and posted $75,000 bail yesterday.
The rapper took to his Instagram Stories to address his arrest early Thursday morning, when police officials claim he was wandering the streets naked and allegedly assaulted them. “Your girl is going to be OK y’all. OK? She’s going to be alright, she’s going to be alright,” he said. “Shit. That was fucking terrifying. That was terrifying! That was a terrifying last four days, but your girl is going to be alright.”
Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Hill, was charged yesterday with three counts of battery against a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. He was arrested on Thursday and held at a Van Nuys jail over the weekend before he was arraigned on Monday morning. At his arraignment, he pleaded not guilty, and bail was set at $75,000. The case will move to pretrial on September 15, and he faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
TMZ was first to release footage of Lil Nas X wandering the streets of Studio City in nothing but underwear and cowboy boots. Later, they put out an additional video showing him fully nude, rapping the lyrics to Nicki Minaj’s verse from “Monster.”
LAPD had responded to calls and complaints early Thursday morning that a nude man was acting erratically on the street. He was arrested for battery of an officer and was transferred to a hospital on suspicion of a potential overdose.
“Attacking police officers is more than just a crime against those individuals but a direct threat to public safety,” said Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman in a statement. “Anyone who assaults law enforcement will face serious consequences, no matter who they are or how famous they may be.”
