Tramell Tillman is heading from the severed floor to the streets of New York City. The Emmy-nominated actor is joining the cast of Sony and Marvel’s “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” Variety has learned exclusively.

Details on Tillman’s character in the web-slinging adventure remain under wraps, but he’ll join Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, Zendaya’s M.J. Jones-Watson, Jacob Batalon’s Ned Leeds, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, plus additional cast members Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas in mysterious new roles.

The fourth film in the Holland-led Spidey franchise is set to release in theaters on July 31, 2026. “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton will direct “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”

Tillman currently stars as Seth Milchick in the award-winning Apple TV+ series “Severance.” For his role, he has received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, as well as SAG and Independent Spirit Award nominations. This spring, Tillman starred opposite Tom Cruise in “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” which had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

Tillman is currently in production on the Amazon/MGM film “Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother” and Lena Dunham’s Netflix film “Good Sex.” His additional film credits include HBO Max’s “Sweethearts” and the crime drama “Barron’s Cove.” His television credits include Marti Noxon’s AMC series “Dietland,” “Godfather of Harlem” and “Hunters.”

In 2024, Tillman starred with Neil Patrick Harris, Debra Messing, Jane Krakowski, Constance Wu and Garret Dillahunt in Manhattan Class Company’s “Shit. Meet. Fan.” In 2022, he starred opposite Sean Hayes in the Goodman Theater’s “Good Night, Oscar.” Tillman originated the role of Alvin and continued to serve as creative consultant for the Broadway production. He made his Broadway debut in “The Great Society” (Vivian Beaumont) alongside Brian Cox. Before that, he starred in “Carmen Jones” (CSC) opposite Anika Noni Rose. Tillman is a residing member of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, where he helped launch the Tony nominated play “Sweat” by Lynn Nottage. He continued performing his lead role at the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. Tillman currently resides in New York City.

In a Variety cover story earlier this month, Tillman reflected on his rising star and making Emmys history as the first openly gay Black man to be recognized in the supporting actor drama category. “I’m not playing small for nobody. I’m not dimming my light for anybody,” he said. “I have spent years doing that, and those days are done. Myself, stepping into that level of thinking and embodying, that is my own form of revolution.”
