Following its premiere in the UK and Ireland earlier this year, the filmed production of “SIX: The Musical Live!” is heading to Australian cinemas.
Universal Pictures has confirmed that the film will hit local theatres from January 8, 2026, for a limited time only.
Per Universal: Filmed live at London’s Vaudeville Theatre and starring the original West End Queens, ‘SIX: The Musical Live!’ reimagines the ex-wives of Henry VIII as fierce pop icons. Aragon, Boleyn, Seymour, Cleves, Howard and Parr – backed by on-stage band ‘Ladies in Waiting’ – are ready to deliver a royal retelling of British Her-story. Reclaiming their stories with sass, power, and unforgettable tunes, SIX: The Musical Live! is a celebration of sisterhood, empowerment, and pop royalty.”
The stage production toured Australia and New Zealand in 2024 and 2025, delivering over 750 performances.
“Six” first premiered at Edinburgh Fringe in 2017 before heading to West End in 2019 and eventually Broadway, where it went on to score eight nominations at the Tony Awards and taking out the Best Original Score and Best Costume Design in a Musical (Gabriella Slade) categories.
Variety gave the musical a positive review, saying: “This fast-paced show — it’s just 80 minutes long — places these Old Spice Girls in a competitive pop-rock concert — think “The SiX Factor” — with the wife who is judged as having suffered the most to be elevated to lead singer. It may not be much of a compensation for their pains — especially for those who have been literally on the chopping block. But for theatergoers, this show (by twenty-somethings Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss and directed by Moss and Jamie Armitage) is as sharp and shiny as a sequined stiletto heel, and couldn’t have come at a better time.

“There’s the spirit-lifting energy of an arena concert, the humor and sass of a special sisterhood, and a ton of biographical exposition easily received in rap and snap — and which might evoke another recent historical musical.”
