Sandra Bernhard is set to bring her latest show, Sandyland: An Evening With Sandra Bernhard, to Australia and New Zealand in 2025.
The American comic, actress and singer will perform in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Thirroul and Perth before making her New Zealand debut in Auckland next March.
Hailed as a trailblazer for female comedians, Bernhard praised Australia as “grit and glamour for me, a jewel floating in the sea, a dream that merges sharp edges and beautiful breezes.”
“From the epic flight to the rocky beaches, its multicultural landscape, delicious cuisine and beautiful people, you can be sure that when I strut onto those stages, I’ll be ready to give everything. I assure you I will,” she added.
Bernhard launched her career at The Comedy Store in Hollywood and made her television debut on The Richard Pryor Show in 1977. Her breakthrough came in Martin Scorsese’s The King of Comedy, where her performance as Masha earned her the National Society of Film Critics Award for best supporting actress.
She went on to refine her stand-up into a one-woman format with her acclaimed 1988 off-Broadway show Without You I’m Nothing, With You I’m Not Much Better, later adapted into a film and Grammy-nominated album.
Over the past five decades, Bernhard has built a career across stage, screen and music. Recent credits include Severance, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Pose and two seasons of American Horror Story.
