Alongside Kyne joining the NZFC Board, Jane Meares has been reappointed for an additional three-year term.
Meanwhile, long-serving Board member David Wright has concluded his tenure after several years. The NZFC extended its gratitude for his guidance, support, and contribution throughout this period.
The New Zealand Film Commission recently announced renewed support for A Wave in the Ocean, a development program founded and led by legendary filmmaker Jane Campion and co-director Philippa Campbell.
The program champions emerging New Zealand filmmakers, providing mentorship, training, and creative support to empower original film making in Aotearoa. “The programme reflects our commitment to developing filmmaker careers, giving them the opportunity to grow and share the unique perspectives and creativity of Aotearoa New Zealand with audiences worldwide,” NZFC CEO Annie Murray said.
It also welcomed changes made to the International Screen Production Rebate, which will ensure New Zealand continues to grow as a leading destination for global screen production. “These changes mean more investment, more jobs, and more opportunities for our world-class screen sector.”
The changes, which will take effect from January 1st, 2026, include a unified spend threshold, the removal of a cap for ATL roles, and the lowering of the 5% Uplift threshold, making it easier for more projects to qualify.
