The trailer for “Frontier Crucible,” a Western thriller starring Armie Hammer, has been released. The film marks Hammer’s return to acting since stepping away from the film industry following multiple sexual assault allegations in 2021.
The claims against Hammer, including allegations of physical abuse and rape, were made by several women in 2021. As previously reported, an LAPD investigation was conducted with no charges filed. Despite Hammer denying the allegations and maintaining the relationships were entirely consensual, his career was derailed, causing him to be in Hollywood exile for three years.
Hammer returned to acting last year after booking “Frontier Crucible,” in which is stars opposite William H. Macy. The cast also includes Myles Clohessy, Mary Stickley, Eli Brown, Ryan Masson, Zane Holtz, Eddie Spears and Thomas Jane.
Based on Harry Whittington’s novel “Desert Stake-Out,” the film centers on “a desperately needed wagon full of medical supplies falling victim to an Apache attack. The only man who can guide it through to its destination is Merrick Beckford, but in order to get there, he’ll need to enlist the help of a trio of dangerous outlaws hell-bent on survival,” the official synopsis reads. “When they accidentally kill an Apache scout, all bets are off, and survival is the name of the game.”
From “Bone Tomahawk” and “Dragged Across Concrete” producer Dallas Sonnier, the film comes from Sonnier’s Bonfire Legend banner and will be directed by Travis Mills (“The Pendragon Cycle”).
“Frontier Crucible” hits theaters and becomes available digitally on Dec. 5. Watch the trailer below:
