Theo Von, comedian and host of popular podcast “This Past Weekend,” objected to a video posted by the Trump administration’s Department of Homeland Security, which uses a snippet of him saying, “Heard you got deported, dude — bye” to promote the agency’s deportation numbers.

On Wednesday, DHS shared a 31-second video clip on X with the caption “Bye.” It begins with Von’s comment then displays the claim that 2 million illegal immigrants have been deported in the first 150 days of President Trump’s second term. It also shows Trump saying, “They simply stopped coming. They’re not coming anymore,” before concluding with on-screen text that says “LEAVE NOW” over a plane on takeoff.

“Yooo DHS i didnt approve to be used in this,” Von wrote on X on Wednesday evening, quoting the DHS post with the video. “I know you know my address so send a check. And please take this down and please keep me out of your ‘banger’ deportation videos.”

Von continued, “When it comes to immigration my thoughts and heart are alot more nuanced than this video allows. Bye!”

Reps for DHS did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

On his podcast, Von has hosted such guests from all sides of the political aisle, including Donald Trump, JD Vance, Mark Cuban, Bernie Sanders, Tucker Carlson, Joe Rogan as well as fellow comedians Shane Gillis, Nikki Glaser and Pete Davidson. Von has two stand-up comedy specials on Netflix, “Regular People” (2021) and “No Offense” (2016).

Von, together with David Spade, is starring in and producing buddy-comedy movie “Busboys,” which they wrote and are self-financing. The film is set in an Arizona border town and follows “David” and “Theo,” two friends who “think becoming waiters will solve all of their problems. They are wrong,” according to the logline. Von is repped by WME.
