The “Les Misérables” production currently touring Australia has broken the record for most performances and highest ticket sales at Sydney’s ICC Theatre.
It’s been confirmed that only a week after opening at the venue, “Les Misérables – The Arena Spectacular” has eclipsed the record previously held by Guy Sebastian who staged a five-concert run in 2022.
The 40th anniversary of “Les Misérables” will be performed 15 times at the ICC, before wrapping up on May 11th.
Live Nation Australasia Chairman, Michael Coppel, accepted a special award from the ICC this week commemorating the broken records.
“Live Nation Australia is proud that the inaugural Australian season of “Les Misérables – The Arena Spectacular” has been a resounding success at the ICC Theatre in Sydney,” Coppel said.
After its Sydney run, the iconic production will then head to Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena from May 14th-25th, before wrapping up at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre from May 28th-June 1st.
The cast includes Alfie Boe and Killian Donnelly sharing the role of Jean Valjean, and Michael Ball and Bradley Jaden sharing the role of Javert, alongside Matt Lucas as Thénardier, Marina Prior as Madame Thénardier, Rachelle Ann Go as Fantine, Jac Yarrow as Marius, Beatrice Penny-Touré as Cosette, James D. Gish as Enjolras and Earl Carpenter as the Bishop of Digne.
The London production of “Les Misérables” – the world’s longest running musical – is still playing to sell out audiences.
Having already traveled throughout the UK and Europe, “The Arena Spectacular” show will next head to Japan, Taiwan, China, and several other Asian countries before it returns to Europe, the US and UK.
