SXSW Sydney has unveiled a fresh wave of speakers and sessions for its 2024 programme.

300 sessions, 1,000 speakers, and topics ranging from tech and marketing to pop culture and investment strategies; October 14th-18th in Sydney is set to be full of eye-opening moments.

Lucy Lawless, aka “Xena the Warrior Princess,” will be making an appearance. Lawless will take part in an ‘In Conversation’ to discuss her directorial debut, “Never Look Away,” a documentary that chronicles the life of CNN camerawoman Margaret Moth.

Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has also joined the speaker lineup to discuss his transition from the court to the business start-up world. Kyrgios, known for his fiery personality and seven ATP Tour singles titles, has also ventured into early-stage startups, becoming a notable figure in the investment scene.

Devika Bulchandani, Global CEO of Ogilvy, will address the ongoing debate around AI’s role in marketing. Bulchandani will explore whether artificial intelligence is set to overshadow human creativity or if the two can coexist to produce groundbreaking results.

The conference will also see Google Analytics and Google Voice founder Wesley Chan providing advice to entrepreneurs looking to break into the U.S. market. Chan is also an investor in several billion-dollar companies, including Canva and AngelList.

SXSW Sydney 2024 will also feature:

  • MIT Technology Review CEO Elizabeth Bramson-Boudreau, who will delve into cutting-edge innovations across AI, biomedicine, and climate science, helping audiences understand how these developments will shape the future.
  • Intel’s first-ever futurist, Brian David Johnson, will offer insights into “futurecasting,” a method to develop actionable visions for the next 10–15 years.
  • Live podcast recordings, including Clare Stephens with Olympic gold medallist Noémie Fox.
  • And sessions featuring Tim Minchin, Suzie Miller, Harry Garside, Grace Tame, and many more.

The SXSW Sydney programme also includes an expanded range of professional development opportunities, with new workshops, meetups, and one-on-one mentoring sessions designed to help attendees accelerate delegate careers across all areas, from creative innovation to cybersecurity.

This year also sees the introduction of several new lounges, including the AWS Innovation House and the Accenture AI Lounge; designed as a place to relax, recharge, and explore the latest developments in tech and creativity.

TikTok will also be making its mark on the event, taking over the Old Clare Hotel with a series of exclusive panels and events focused on creativity and culture.
