Netflix has released the trailer for “Wellmania” starring Celeste Barber, which will hit the platform on March 29.
The eight-part series is inspired by the book “Wellmania: Misadventures in the Search for Wellness” by author and journalist Brigid Delaney, and was co-created with Benjamin Law (“The Family Law”).
Law and Belinda King (“Cleopatra in Space” are co-executive producers alongside Barber and Warren Clarke (“The Heights”) who recently announced his move to BBC Studios Australia as the new head of scripted.
The cast includes JJ Fong, Genevieve Mooy, Lachlan Buchanan, Remy Hii, Alexander Hodge, Simone Kessell, Virgine Laverdure, Johnny Carr and Miranda Otto.
The show’s tagline is “Get well, die trying”.
“When food writer and human tornado Liv, Celeste Barber, has a major health crisis, she is forced to rethink her ‘live fast die young’ attitude. After she scores a once-in-a lifetime job that will catapult her into the American mainstream, a series of unfortunate events in Australia sees her banned from re-entering the States unless she fixes her health. Throwing herself body-first into a wellness journey, she tries everything from the benign to the bizarre in an attempt to get well quick, and reclaim her old life,” publicity for the Netflix show said.
