Stan is ramping up publicity for its four-part Original series, “Bali 2002”.
The series stars Claudia Jessie, Rachel Griffiths, Richard Roxburgh, Sean Keenan, Srisacd Sacdpraseuth and Sri Ayu Jati Kartika, and follows the story of those affected both locally and in Indonesia by the Bali bombing attack in 2002.
It is the first co-commission between Stan and the Nine Network, both owned by Nine Entertainment. The series is produced by Screentime, Endemol Shine Australia and Banjay companies, along with major production investment from Screen Australia, in association with Screen NSW.
All four one-hour episodes will become available at once on Stan on Sept. 25.
Stan said the series was developed through comprehensive research and interviews with numerous survivors, investigators, medical personnel and people impacted by the tragedy.
“On 12th October 2002, the island of Bali was shattered by a terrorist attack on two of Kuta Beach’s busiest nightclubs. Local Balinese and the mainly Australian and British tourists scrambled to rescue the injured and comfort the dying. Australian and Indonesian authorities mobilised to evacuate survivors, identify victims and investigate what really took place,” Stan publicity said.
“Amidst the chaos, heroes arose from the most unlikely places and people united in the search for healing, justice and meaning. Victims struggled to rebuild their broken lives as the Indonesian and Australian security forces faced a clear and present danger – working together to capture the terrorists before they could strike again.”
“Bali 2002” was produced by Kerrie Mainwaring (“Wolf Creek”) for Screentime, co-produced by Peter Andrikidis (“Eden”), with executive producers Tim Pye and Sara Richardson for Endemol Shine Australia, Amanda Duthie and Cailah Scobie for Stan, and Andy Ryan and Michael Healy for Nine Network.
Andrikidis also serves as director alongside co-director Katrina Irawati Graham.
