Jimmy Barnes, Jessica Mauboy and Tim Minchin will all take to the stage to perform at the 2022 TV Week Logie Awards this Sunday, June 19.
Barnes’ time on stage will be one of a series of performances celebrating the 30th anniversary of “Soul Deep”, his album which was certified 10-times Platinum and won him the 1992 ARIA Awards for Best Male Artist and Highest Selling Album. “Soul Deep” remains both Barnes’ and Mushroom Records’ highest-selling album ever.
He said the Logies was a great way to bring the celebration to more people across the country.
“We’re really looking forward to staging these ‘Soul Deep’ Anniversary gigs – I love playing all those classic songs. Unfortunately, it’s such a big show that we can’t take it right around the country, so the Logies will be a great way to let everyone across Australia get a small taste of these special shows,” he said.
Mauboy, meanwhile, has just finished her sold-out Boss Lady Tour and is promoting her new single “Automatic”, which she will perform on stage.
Actor and performer Tim Minchin will also perform, having recently wrapped production for the Season 2 of “Upright” which will screen on Foxtel later this year.
The Awards will take place from 7 p.m. on Sunday June 19 and will be broadcast and streamed by Channel 9. The Nine Network’s Adrian Swift previously told Variety Australia that this year’s awards will better reflect the views and viewing habits of the Australian public.
“I think it will better reflect what the audience is watching… What’s most important to me is, I hope we can make some television that Australia wants to watch, which isn’t just some television love-in award orgy, but is actually television people want to watch. That’s the tough bit [but] we’ve got a really good production team on it,” he said.
The broadcast will be fabulous variety television, he said, which is needed more than ever on our screens.
“Look, I am saying this because it is absolutely true, it will be bigger and better. Everyone’s playing, and we’re all excited about it. Because there was a time where we were worried it would go away, and actually industries need those awards nights because I think it highlights what industries do well, but I think they’re fun, and I think they’re different and I think they’re interesting. Call it a fabulous bit of variety television. Australian television needs that sort of stuff.”
Voting for the nominated actors, personalities and shows is open until the Red Carpet segment of the evening ends. You can vote here.
