U.S. politics makes a habit of making headlines, even in Australia and New Zealand, but staying caught up on global affairs is a full-time job — except for the listeners of “Pod Save America,” the podcast that keeps up to date on all things White House so you don’t have to. It’s coming to Australia and New Zealand in 2026, with live events announced for Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland.
Podcast co-host and former White House Communications Director and Press Secretary Dan Pfieffer will be joined by his three fellow co-hosts and former aides of the Obama administration: Jon Favreau, who served as Obama’s speechwriter from 2005-2013, Jon Lovett, speechwriter for both Obama and Clinton administrations, and Tommy Vietor — former White House National Security Spokesperson under President Obama.
There’s no shortage of topics for the hosts to get into on this “Pod Save America: Hopefully Just Visiting Tour,” but as the press release puts it, the hosts could very well be “taken by the warm embrace of idyllic beaches, relatively normal politicians, and universal healthcare” we have to offer in Australia and New Zealand.
But it won’t just be limited to the state of affairs in the so-called land of the free, the hosts will touch on “the global rise of right-wing authoritarianism, and how all of us can help fight back”.
Since launching in 2017, “Pod Save America” has become one of the ten most popular podcasts in the U.S. and averages over 1.5 million listeners per episode. Notable guests have included President Obama himself, plus other progressive figures like Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Chef José Andrés and Hollywood legend Jane Fonda.
