Charlie Pickering will be the new team captain on the Australian version of “Would I Lie To You?”

The comedy panel show hit Channel 10 and 10 Play earlier this year with host Chrissie Swan and team captains Chris Taylor from “The Chaser” and comedian Frank Woodley.

Pickering is replacing Taylor.

Season 2 of “Would I Lie To You?” will screen on Monday nights in 2023.

Pickering said: “I have always loved the show, and as a new team captain, I can’t wait to maximise my opportunities to lie to the Australian public.”

When the show launched in Australia, Daniel Monaghan, senior VP of content and programming at Channel 10’s owner Paramount ANZ (then ViacomCBS Australia and New Zealand), said: “I’m not going to lie to you – viewers on Network 10 are going to absolutely fall in love with Would I Lie To You? Australia” – and that’s the honest truth.”

The show is produced by Endemol Shine Australia. Last year, CEO Peter Newman said the company was delighted to be bringing the show to Australia.

“We are absolutely delighted to bring one of the world’s greatest comedy panel shows to Australian audiences. “Would I Lie To You?” is a wonderfully simple and hilarious game where lying is not only required, but elevated into a side-splittingly funny competition.

“We can’t wait to get Australian families playing along – pick the facts from the fibs – and laughing out loud at the impossibly absurd stories of our captains and guests.”
