“Untold: Race of the Century” will hit Netflix on Sept. 6.

It is part of “Untold Volume 2”, a four-week docu-series event which aims to bring fresh eyes to epic tales from the world of sports.

The upcoming episode “Race of the Century” will centre on the 1983 America’s Cup, which Netflix described as “a classic underdog story”.

“It tells the tale of the scrappy group of Australians who band together to dethrone the New York Yacht Club, and break the longest-running win streak in history – 132 years – in the most prestigious sailing competition in the world,” Netflix said.

The episode will feature interviews with key members of the 1983 U.S. and Australian crews.

The “Untold” series premieres weekly on Netflix. It kicked off on Aug. 16, with the remaining episodes to hit the platform on Aug. 23 and 30, and Sept. 6.

Each film kicks off with a pivotal moment and then delves into what happened beyond the headlines, as told by those who lived it.

Netflix said each instalment reveals “the grit, resilience, heartbreak, triumph, violence, comedy and pathos beneath the sweat”.

“‘Untold’ gets to the heart of the passion and single mindedness it takes to be a champion and the ways in which the triumphs can be undone off the field,” the streaming giant added.
